Within the framework of international, religious, and dialogue activities, along with major intellectual centers and the inauguration of the meeting of the Founding Council of Islamic Leaders in the Americas:

As part of his visit to the US, and at his residence in New York, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met with His Excellency Ambassador Hameed Opeloyeru, Permanent Observer of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to the United Nations, and His Excellency Ambassador Sidi Ould Baham Ould Mohamed Laghdaf, President of the Islamic Group at the United Nations.

The meeting discussed a number of relevant issues in the Islamic and international fields, particularly topics related to the ceasefire in Gaza and the entry of humanitarian aid, in addition to the MWL’s initiative to unite the efforts of religious leaders around the world in this regard.

Both guests praised the great and exceptional efforts that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has made, and is still making in this regard.

They also noted the #CharterOfMakkah, whose historic conference was under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and was approved by the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.  In the coming few days, one of its most important programs, which is designated for the Americas, will be launched along with its website. The event will take place at the Islamic Center in the presence of a number of officials and prominent influential religious leaders from the US.
