A First of its Kind, Serving the Blind Community Worldwide:

The Muslim World League (MWL) organized the First Albasira International Qur’an Memorization Competition for the Blind in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia.

The MWL also honored outstanding blind Qur’an memorizers from various age groups who demonstrated excellence in memorizing the Qur’an, Qira’at, Tajweed, and the memorization of Mutun.

In addition, three hundred electronic Braille copies of the Qur’an—an innovative technology designed to serve blind individuals around the world—were distributed.

This global competition seeks to foster a spirit of healthy competition among blind Qur’an memorizers; encourage, recognize, and support them; highlight their essential role in society; develop their skills in Qur’anic memorization and Tajweed; enhance their self-confidence; and affirm their full participation alongside all members of society in Qur’anic competitions.
