United Kingdom: H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the MWL, met with Islamic religious leaders and business figures

H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL), met with Islamic religious leaders and business figures from across the United Kingdom.

The meetings discussed a number of issues related to the Islamic civilizational approach to addressing matters of concern to Muslim communities living in non-Muslim countries. His Excellency commended the distinguished example set by Muslims in the United Kingdom in promoting coexistence and social cohesion, stating:

“On behalf of the MWL, we take pride in this distinction, which reflects the values of Islamic civilization and the awareness of its people regarding the concept of citizenship and the importance of strengthening social cohesion.”

The attendees, in turn, praised the positive and prominent role played by the MWL around the world, showing their appreciation for the MWL’s important initiatives. They highlighted, among their achievements in the United Kingdom, the reception accorded to His Excellency by His Majesty King Charles III at Buckingham Palace, making him the first Arab and Muslim figure received by the King following his accession to the throne of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

They also discussed the MWL’s distinctive and ongoing efforts to clarify the true message of Islam in confronting extremist ideologies in all their forms, particularly the exemplary approach it adopts in addressing such challenges, which has earned widespread respect and trust.

The conversation then turned to the United Nations General Assembly’s selection of Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League, to deliver an in-person and exclusive address on behalf of Muslim peoples at the first-ever UN commemoration of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, and His Excellency’s contribution at the World Economic Forum in Davos, as the first-ever religious representation of the Islamic world.
