H.E. Sheikh Dr Al-Issa Meets Leading Somali Scholars in Mogadishu

His Excellency Sheikh Dr Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met leading Somali scholars in Mogadishu. A forum titled "Somalia at the Heart of the Islamic World" was held alongside the meeting.

Discussions focused on how to confront extremist ideologies at odds with the Islamic values of the Somali people, and on the need for coordinated efforts to raise awareness of the dangers these ideologies pose and how to prevent their spread. The scholars and dignitaries present expressed their appreciation for the meeting and the depth of the discussions.

They also welcomed Dr Al-Issa's address, which set out a religious and intellectual basis for countering extremism and put forward proposals for strengthening scholarly efforts to that end.
The meeting concluded with agreement on a joint project between the Muslim World League and Somali scholars, comprising a series of initiatives and programmes to strengthen cooperation.
