H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa , Secretary-General of the MWL and Chairman of the OMS, met with leading Somali scholars in a fruitful scholarly and intellectual gathering

A fruitful meeting with Somali scholars in the capital, Mogadishu:

H.E. Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa , Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, met with leading Somali scholars in a fruitful scholarly and intellectual gathering.

In conjunction with the meeting, a forum entitled “Somalia at the Heart of the Islamic World” was held.

The esteemed scholars and dignitaries expressed their appreciation for the meeting and the extensive and enriching discussions, which focused on ways to confront extremist ideologies that are alien to the sound Islamic principles of the Somali people, and the importance of mobilizing efforts to raise awareness of their dangers and means of prevention.

The scholars also commended the address delivered by H.E. Dr. Al-Issa, which presented a sound Islamic and intellectual framework and important proposals for strengthening scholarly and intellectual efforts to confront extremism.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on a joint project—whose details will be finalized soon—comprising a number of qualitative initiatives and programs aimed at strengthening scholarly and intellectual cooperation between the Muslim World League and Somali scholars.
