Christchurch, New Zealand: Dr Al-Issa Revisits Masjid An-Nur, Meets Survivors and Families of Christchurch Attack Victims
Dr Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, visited Masjid An-Nur earlier today, the site of the terrorist attack during Friday prayers on 15 March 2019 (8 Rajab 1440 AH). He reviewed the mosque's current needs and met with survivors and the families of those killed, may Allah have mercy on them.
Dr Al-Issa reaffirmed the Muslim World League's commitment to close engagement with Muslim communities and to its work combating hateful ideologies and promoting tolerance, coexistence and social cohesion worldwide.
Mosque officials raised the need for reconstruction to meet growing demand, driven by a significant rise in worshipper numbers in recent years, as well as the need for a dedicated lecture and dialogue hall. On behalf of the MWL General Secretariat, Dr Al-Issa pledged to fulfil this request urgently, once the necessary legal procedures are complete.
