Secretary General of the Muslim World League inaugurates the Fourth ASEAN Council of Scholars and launches the Arabic Language Program for Qur’an Memorizers in the ASEAN Region

Secretary General of the Muslim World League inaugurates the Fourth ASEAN Council of Scholars and launches the Arabic Language Program for Qur’an Memorizers in the ASEAN Region

Kuala Lumpur:
His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League (MWL) and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, inaugurated the Fourth Forum of the ASEAN Council of Scholars. The event was attended on behalf of the host country by the Honorable Dr. Dato’ Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia; along with Sheikh Ahmad Fawzi bin Ali Fadzil, and the Grand Mufti of Malaysia; and Senator Dr. Zulkifli Hasan, the Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs.

The forum also featured distinguished participation from the muftis of ASEAN member states and leading scholars from across the region.

As part of the Council’s achievements this year, the Arabic Language Program for Qur’an Memorizers in the ASEAN region was launched. The occasion also included honoring the second cohort of outstanding Qur’an memorizers from the region whose ijazahs, with the continuous chain of transmission extending back to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings be upon him), were authenticated through the Global E-maqraa of the Muslim World League.
